Built by Hand.
Shaped by Experience.
Ory Brochet’s relationship with drums began in 1973, when, at eight years old, he slipped into his older brother’s room to play the snare drum he had been admiring from afar. After tapping out the theme from Hogan’s Heroes by ear, he was hooked. What began as a childhood fascination soon became a lifelong pursuit—first as a drummer, then as a craftsman determined to understand what makes an instrument sound and feel truly alive.
In 1992, Ory found the opportunity to unite his two greatest interests: drumming and woodworking. He joined Drum Workshop as an entry-level sander and quickly worked his way into production leadership. Over the next seven years, he gained hands-on experience throughout the drum-manufacturing process, spent five years managing production, contributed to new designs, and later served as a regional sales manager. During that time, he began experimenting with his own ideas—making subtle changes to the edges, dimensions, and finishes of a personal kit that planted the earliest seeds for Orybon.
After leaving DW, Ory returned to finish carpentry, restoring and remodeling high-end custom and historic homes throughout Hancock Park, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, and the greater Los Angeles area. Working in those spaces deepened his respect for exceptional materials, precise joinery, thoughtful design, and craftsmanship meant to last for generations.
In 2005, he founded The Orybon Company to bring those decades of experience together. Every Orybon drum is handcrafted with intention, blending time-honored woodworking with original construction methods developed to serve the sound. From the carefully selected wood to the proportions, edges, hardware, and final finish, each decision has a purpose: to create an instrument with unmistakable tone, character, and response.
Orybon is the culmination of a lifetime spent behind the kit, inside the workshop, and in pursuit of something different—drums built to inspire the player and deliver the sound they have been chasing.
